Concert Programs + Workshop 2016-2017

During the first half of the 19th century, “Guitaromanie” was at its height in the French capital. Whether for Fernando Sor’s new fantasia or Louis-Ange Carpentras’s arrangements of operas, the French were very fond of new guitar works. Thanks to its clarity, precision, richness, and diversity, in addition to its dramatic twists and turns, Parisian music still charms us today. Concert details + press kit.

Pascal Valois presents large-scale works such as the Hungarian Fantasy op. 65 by Johan Kaspar Mertz and the Sonata op. 15 by Mauro Giuliani, as well as Mertz's beautiful miniatures based on Franz Schubert' lieder, among which the sublime Lied Ohne Worte from Bardenklange op. 13 (Bards' Music). The concert is performed with a replica of a guitar from Vienna's famous luthier, Johann Georg Stauffer. Concert details + press kit.
