“La folie du 19e siècle” est le titre que le prolifique compositeur guitariste François Doisy donna à son nouveau recueil de valses en 1803. Ce titre représente à la fois l’engouement sans précédent que suscitait la guitare  l’époque romantique et la passion des amateurs de musique pour les valses. En plus des valses effrénées de Mozart, Haydn et Bach, vous entendrez des variations endiablées sur la Folia, la déchirante Élégie de Mertz et les merveilleuses miniatures de Rung. Concert sur instrument d’époque. 70 minutes avec commentaires et possibilité d’atelier et de conférence préconcert.

Program’s Description

“19th-Century Fever” is the title that the prolific composer and guitarist François Doisy gave to his new collection of waltzes in 1803. This title represents both the unprecedented enthusiasm for the guitar during the Romantic era and the passion of music lovers for waltzes. In addition to the frenetic waltzes of Mozart, Haydn, and Bach, you will hear spirited variations on La Folia, the poignant Elegy by Mertz, and the marvelous miniatures by Rung. Concert on period instrument. 70 minutes with commentary and the possibility of a pre-concert talk and outreach activities in the community (Library, School)
